What Are PDO Threads? What is a PDO Thread Lift?
PDO Threads can improve the quality of the skin, reduce wrinkles, lift areas of lax or sagging skin, and give enhanced volume. PDO Threads work by stimulating collagen production in the area they are placed. As the thread dissolves, 4-6 months later, collagen present in the treated area increases by 100%. Results can last 8-14 months. Using stimulating threads in follow up treatments can be done to give more lasting results.
Common areas for thread lift are the jaw line, the cheek area, the neck, and brow lift. Threads can be used in and around the lips for lift and volume. Threads are also commonly used in the nasolabial folds and marionette areas to increase volume and stimulate collagen.
Local Anesthetic is used to make at entry points to numb the area in which the threads are to be placed. This is for comfort during the procedure. Treatment time can be 20 minutes to 1 ½ hours, depending on the area and how many threads are placed.
Results can be immediate and improve over the next 3-6 months. There are lifting threads, stimulating threads, and volumizing threads. As new collagen forms, results are better and better, lifting and tightening the skin. The best treatment plan is a series of 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart.
There is no real down time. No strenuous exercise, no pools or spas, and no big mouth foods, like a huge burger, for 48 hours. The first 24 hours, you must keep the insertion areas clean and no make up in those areas. Of course, with any needle insertion treatment, there is always potential for bleeding and bruising. Before any treatments, it is best not to have any form of NSAIDS- Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen, aspirin products for at least a week.
Threads in combination with neuromodulators ( Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) and facial fillers such as Juvederm products, are a great option for facial rejuvenation.
