Breast Implants Create
Fuller, More Symmetrical Results

Breast Lifts Offer
A Perkier, More Youthful Appearance
Do you wish you had perkier breasts? It's natural for breasts to droop after aging or breastfeeding, but if you are unhappy with these changes, our plastic surgeon can elevate and firm your breasts using a breast lift.
Combining Lifts and Implants
Provide the Benefits of Both
Patients with concerns about shape, size, and position may benefit from a combined approach. Our plastic surgeon will fully assess your candidacy, making sure that it's safe to combine a breast lift and breast implants for your unique case.

View on GoogleExploring Implant Options
Our plastic surgeon uses both cohesive gel and saline implants. Both types are safe and provide natural-looking results. Whether you choose saline or cohesive gel implants will depend on your cosmetic goals, budget, and other personal preferences.
Saline Breast Implants
Many patients at our Reno, NV, practice opt for saline implants. Typically, implants filled with sterile saline are more affordable than gel implants, giving you beautiful results at a price that fits into your budget.
They're also often preferred by patients seeking to increase the size of their breasts, since they can potentially provide even more substantial volume.
Cohesive Gel Implants
If you want subtle results from safe materials, cohesive gel implants offer the best of both worlds. This type of implant is best known for its resemblance to the teardrop shape of unaltered breast tissue, as well as its natural feel.
It's also able to remain intact and prevent leakages, thanks to the type of material used. So, even if the integrity of the implant is affected, choosing cohesive gel implants can minimize potential risks.
Breast Implant Placement Options Submuscular vs. Subglandular
Explaining Breast Implant Placement Approaches Offered by Our Plastic Surgeon
Subglandular Breast Implant Placement
With subglandular placement, the breast implant is placed between your chest muscle and your breast tissue. This placement may help reduce your surgery and recovery time.
It can also be less painful than submuscular placement and make your breast implants easier to access if re-operation is necessary. Subglandular breast implants may be easier to see and feel through your skin, however. If you prefer more subtle cosmetic results, we can discuss submuscular breast augmentation.
Submuscular Breast Implant Placement
Submuscular placement means that your breast implants are placed partially or wholly under the pectoralis major chest muscle.
Submuscular implants may result in a longer, more painful recovery than subglandular implants. Submuscular placement may result in less palpable implants and may reduce the risk of developing capsular contracture (a tightening of the scar tissue which may require additional surgery to correct). This technique also offers easier mammographic imaging of the breast.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost?
Because every patient's goals are different, the cost of breast augmentation varies from person to person. At our practice, though, treatment typically starts at about $8,000. If you are undergoing breast augmentation on its own, your procedure will be more affordable than if you are combining your treatment with other procedures such as a breast lift or a mommy makeover.
Although it can be tempting to shop around for an affordable surgeon, you should beware of "bargain prices" when it comes to breast augmentation. An experienced surgeon may charge more than a less experienced colleague, but he or she is more likely to deliver results that you love. You should only consider reputable plastic surgeons like James E. Murphy, M.D. when searching for a breast augmentation provider.
During your consultation at our Reno, NV, office, you can learn more about the cost of surgery and explore your financing options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Breast Augmentation
Will my results change over time?
After your surgery, you will notice an immediate increase in breast size, but keep in mind that you will have some swelling at this point. We recommend performing massage exercises to relax the surgical pocket where your implants were placed. New implants tend to “ride high” at first, then relax into a natural placement over time. After about three months, the swelling will subside and your implants will settle, giving you a better idea of the final results.
Will my ability to breastfeed be affected?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most mothers who have had breast surgery can breastfeed. If you are planning to have children or breastfeed, discuss this with James E. Murphy, M.D, during your consultation. Some women choose to postpone their surgery until after they are done having children.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery from breast augmentation typically takes about a week, and you can return to work after this time. You should avoid strenuous physical activities for several more weeks, or until our doctor gives his approval. You will need to attend several follow-up appointments with our Reno, NV, plastic surgeon so he can monitor your progress.
When will I see breast implant results?
One of the benefits of this procedure is that it offers rapid results. Immediately after your surgery, you will notice a change in your figure. As swelling subsides and you continue to recover, the results will become even more apparent and stunning. You will not only enjoy a more curvaceous figure, but you will also enjoy a greater sense of self-confidence.
