Cleft Lip and Palate Patient 5
Left unilateral cleft lip and palate patient. Pre-op picture taken at 3 months old. Post-op picture taken at 3 years old. Typical surgery sequence is to repair the lip at 3 months old,repair the soft palate at 6 months old, and finally, repair the hard palate at 9-12 months old. Patients usually require further surgeries later in life to revise/repair their nose, bone grafting to their alveolar ridge (where their teeth grow from), and occasionally, to revise the lip to improve their scar.
